Number of Ukrainian soldiers participating in Anti-Terrorist Operation revealed

On April 13 Ukraine marked two years since the start of undeclared war in country's eastern regions

69,000 Ukrainian soldiers are currently participating in the so-called Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine, President Poroshenko stated during his speech in the parliament on Thursday, April 14.

According to the President, 18,688 people have decided to enroll in the armed forces since the beginnings of the year due to the improvement of conditions for soldiers who sign a contract with the army.

Poroshenko also said 127,363 Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers have received ATO veteran status and tens of thousands of corresponding documents are to be issued in the nearest future. He also mentioned the plan of establishing a ministry that deals with issues of temporarily occupied territories and the Anti-Terrorist Operation.
