Parliament renames one more major Ukrainian city

Kirovohrad gets new name under Ukraine's decommunization drive

Ukraine's parliament, Verkhovna Rada, voted on Thursday to rename the central city of Kirovohrad to Kropyvnytsky.

Kirovohrad is the last city that has lost its Soviet name under Ukraine's decommunization law.

In total 230 MPs voted to support the decision.

Marko Kropyvnytsky (1840-1910) was a Ukrainian writer, playwright and theatre actor.
