Ukrainian MP will attend court hearing on the case of Ukrainian prisoners

Nadiya Savchenko, a Ukrainian MP, a delegate to the PACE and a military pilot, who was released from Russia and brought back to Ukraine in May this year, is again in Moscow.

This time she has arrived to attend Russia's Supreme Court hearing on the case of Ukrainian prisoners Stanyslav Klykh and Mykola Karpiuk, lawyer Ilya Novikov reported on his Twitter.

On his Facebook page, he posted a photo of Savchenko with the hashtags #FreeKarpyuk #FreeKlykh.

Ukrainian citizens Karpiuk and Klykh were sentenced to 22,5 and 20 years in Russia's high-security prison for fighting alongside Chechen separatists and involvement in the murder of a Russian soldier.

The two Ukrainians deny their guilt. Human rights activists also dismissed the charges as totally fabricated, and emphasize that the defendants were tortured into false confessions.

On October 26 Russia's Supreme Court is looking into the appeal against the verdict filed by their defense team.
