To celebrate the Day of Ukrainian language and literacy, anyone and everyone can take part in a worldwide dictation challenge
November 9 is a Day of Ukrainian language and literacy. During the last 16 years, it is celebrated by writing a dictation. Anyone can join from any place in the world, and the State Radio promises to check all the hand-written texts, sent to them.
The dictation will be aired on November 9, 11:30 AM by Kyiv time (09:30 AM GMT)
As a rule, the text for the dictation is exclusive, created specially for Ukrainian radio. It consists of 150 words. An anchor reads it twice live on air. Afterward, the text will be published on the website. Participants can check themselves or send their text to the radio - as a traditional letter or a scan/photo of the handwritten dictation in an e-mail.
The results will be announced in December. The anchors will tell how many letters the received, about the geography of participants and most common mistakes.
The worldwide dictation becomes more and more popular with each passing year. Tens of thousands of people all over the world accept the challenge. Two years ago, in 2014, Kyiv university, named after Borys Grinchenko, settled a record on mass simultaneous dictation and writing in one location. They gathered 689 people in one lecture hall.
