Ukrainian pilot-turned-MP Nadiya Savchenko attends the ceremony
The largest Ukrainian national flag in the world - 40x60 metres - was unfurled in Dnipro's centre (third largest city in Ukraine) to mark the Youth Day, on June 26.
Ukrainian MP and delegate to PACE Nadiya Savchenko (who was recently released and brought back from Russia to Ukraine) attended the ceremony of unfurling the flag, according to the local news outlet 056.ua.
According to her, the flag is listed in the Ukrainian Book of Records. The record-breaking item travelled all over 20 cities of Ukraine, including Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, and Mariupol.
It was unfolded in Mariupol, when the city was liberated from the Russian-backed separatist forces in 2014. The largest flag was created and first unfurled in Kyiv, near the National University named after T. Shevchenko, in 2012.
According to organizers, hundreds of Dnipro's residents supported the initiative.
On June 27 the 40-metre Crimean Tatar national flag was unfurled in Ukraine's capital Kyiv.
