Ukraine will create repository of academic works to fight plagiarism

Officials hope automated search will facilitate the struggle against intellectual infringement

The Ukrainian Government has approved the creation of the National repository of the academic texts, which primary function is combating plagiarism.

The respective decision was adopted during the Government's meeting on July 22.

"The creation of the repository will allow us to automate the search of the plagiary", the Minister of Education of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych stated.

According to her, the creation of the repository will help academic and research institutions to facilitate the search process of plagiary in the students' works.

The necessary sum of at least 180,000 UAH will be allocated from the state budget. 

Plagiarism is a common problem for the Ukrainian higher education and science. It affects not only local the reputation of the universities, but also shows them in a bad light abroad.
