Ukrainians protest lengthy holidays for MPs

Activist insist deputies should not go for summer break with many reforms unpassed

About two dozen of activists from the Reanimation Package of Reforms civic platform gathered on July 12 near the Ukrainian parliament to protest the upcoming lengthy summer holidays of the country's lawmakers.

The activists urged the MPs to postpone or shorten their seven-week summer break until they pass the key reform bills that are pending.

Protesters brought beach chairs, umbrellas, and refreshing drinks to mock the parliament's decision to go on a break.

Verkhovna Rada is set to close its session on July 15, and assemble again only on September 6.
