Ukrainian traditional embroidered shirt is not just a beautiful garment but a genetic code of the nation

From traditional to modern, vyshyvankas of all styles were seen in cities and towns as Ukrainians all over the world celebrated their national Vyshyvanka Day.

The colourful, folk-inspired wear has become something of a fashion item in Ukraine and abroad since the country's 2014 Euromaidan revolution.

Today vyshyvankas, known for their ornate patterns with local features making each one unique, are considered to be the genetic code of Ukrainians, the cultural bridge between generations, and the symbol of unity.
