Ukraine's capital celebrates its 1,534 anniversary

Kyiv celebrates the City Day on 28 and 29 May (Saturday and Sunday).

35 different cultural, sports and educational activities were prepared for Kyiv's residents and guests during this weekend, including the Vyshyvanka Mega March (Ukrainian embroidered shirt parade), sailing races and bike ride.

Also, around 6,000 people took part in the Charity Chestnut Run to raise money for children with heart disease.

According to the legend, Kyiv was founded more than 1,500 years ago by three brothers Kyi, Schek, Khoryv and their sister Lybid. The city was named after the oldest brother Kyi.
