Ukraine celebrates Independence Day on 24th August
Military vehicles and soldiers are parading through Ukraine's main square as part of the country's Independence Day events in a grand show of strength and national unity.
Ukraine is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its independence on August 24.
The large scale parade on Khreshchatyk Street will feature about 200 pieces of military equipment.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko offered his praise to the soldiers battling combined Russian-separatist forces in the east of the country, and suggested to observe a moment of silence to honour more than 2,500 servicemen killed in the Donbas warzone.
