Yemeni people search for alternative sources of energy

Solar power energy usage has grown up to 30% since last year

Alternative power sources gain popularity in the war-torn Yemen.

It has been a year since the Saudi-led coalition carried out military operation against Houthi rebels. The airstrikes damaged local electricity supply and forced many residents to turn to solar power.

By now nearly 30 per cent of Yemeni electricity is derived from solar energy, both in urban and rural areas. Those who still cannot afford the solar batteries, try various means of getting power supply from dung cakes and firewood.
