Young Ukrainian musicians play an improvised concert

Students strive to participate in an international competition in Italy

Music in a shopping mall as a chance to earn money. In the city of Dnipropetrovsk, that is central Ukraine. the talented children played an improvised concert.

The young performers say they are in need of expensive musical instruments to take part in contests abroad.

14-year-old pianist Artem Tereschenko wants to play for Ukraine at an international musical festival in Italy. Airfare and living expenses cost at least 1500 Euros. His teachers hope in the near future they will be able to sponsor the young talents.

Artem Tereschenko, pianist: "This is the first time I will travel abroad and represent Ukraine to the world. I wish I could win a grant to get lessons from a worldwide known master. It is hard to become a professional musician in Ukraine without sponsorship."
