Biathlon World Cup: Ukraine's female team got bronze

The second stage of Biathlon World Cup held in Slovenia's Pokljuka

Ukraine's team gained third place in the women's relay race on the second stage of Biathlon World Cup in Slovenia's Pokljuka, as UNIAN news agency reports. 

The female team consists of Iryna Varvynets, Yuliya Dzhyma, Olena Pidhrushna and Anastasiya Merkushyna. During the second stage of the relay, Yuliya Dzhyma brought the team from the 9th place to 1st, however, Olena Pidhrushna didn't succeed to preserve the leadership and finished her part of the race the 3rd.

Anastasiya Merkushyna saved the 3rd place for the team by clean-shooting.

That is the first medal for Ukraine's team at the current World Cup.

The first place was won by Germany with 33.7 seconds ahead of Ukraine. The second position was occupied by France.

Previously, Ukraine's biathlon male team reached 4th place in the men's relay race in Pokljuka.
