Fencer Kharlan will carry Ukrainian flag at Rio closing ceremony

Athlete has brough Ukraine two awards, one as part of fencing team

Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan, who has claimed bronze in sabre fencing individual and also won silver as part of fencing team, will carry the national flag during the closing ceremony at Rio Summer Olympic Games.

That's according to the press service of Ukraine's Olympic Committee.

"This is a great honour for me," Kharlan said. "I was in good mood already but now it's hard to control feelings. I will carry Ukrainian flag! I am proud of it!"

25-year-old Olga Kharlan won the bronze medal in women's fencing individual sabre late on August 8th. She overplayed her counterpart from France Manon Brunet scoring 15:10.

The Ukrainian women's sabre fencing team has won silver. The athletes were beaten by the Russian team in the final match with 30:45, and left the US team with the third place.

48-year-old shooter Mykola Milchev carried Ukrainian flag during the official opening ceremony in Rio.
