Tickets of Russian fans for MU game in Ukraine cancelled

Decision was made after recommendation of the host country

Russian fans of Manchester United will not be able to support their favorite football club in the UEFA Europa League match against Ukraine's Zorya. 

They have received phone notifications, saying their tickets have been cancelled, according to UNIAN.

The text of the notifications says, the decision was made due to the ‘current political situation and potential problems with the safety of the fans'.

‘The authorities of the host country recommended that we do not provide you with the tickets for the game. That is why we are nullifying your tickets', the messages say.

According to the notifications, the ticket owners will be given compensation over the course of the next five days.

Zorya Luhansk will square off against Manchester United on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

The previous match between the two football clubs took place in England. Manchester secured a narrow 1-0 victory.
