Ukraine's Beleniuk wins Greco-Roman silver at Olympics in men's 85 kg class

Wrestler was defeated in battle for gold by Russian Davit Chakvetadze

Ukraine gains one more medal at Olympic Games in Rio-de-Janeiro. Greco-Roman wrestler Zhan Beleniuk won a silver award in the men's 85kg weight category.

In 1/8 final Beleniuk beat Egyptian sportsman Ahmed Mohamed Saad scoring 9:0. In the quarter-final Ukrainian wrestler won 10:1 over Nikolay Bayryakov from Bulgaria. The semi-final was marked with Beleniuk battling Belarusian Javid Hamzatau 6:0.

Zhan Beleniuk was at first leading in the struggle for golden Olympic medal, later losing to Russian Davit Chakvetadze 2:9.

Since August 5th Ukraine has won five medals so far. Ukrainian shooter Sergii Kulish won a silver medal in men's 10-metre air rifle. Gymnast Oleg Verniaiev won the second silver medal for Ukraine at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Two more awards were gained in fencing, a bronze of Olga Kharlan in individual sabre fencing and silver in women's team sabre fencing.
