Ukraine takes bronze in men's canoe double

Dmytro Ianchuk and Taras Mishchuk win the ninth medal for Ukraine at Rio 

Ukrainian canoeists Dmytro Ianchuk and Taras Mishchuk have won the bronze medal in the men's canoe double 1000 meter sprint.

Halfway towards the finish line, the duo found themselves at the fifth position, but managed to overtake their opponents. 

Their final result was 3:45.949, which was roughly two seconds slower than the winners.

German Sebastian Brendel and Jan Vandrey won the gold. The silver was taken by a duo from Brazil. 

After today's achievement, Ukraine has nine medals overall and is sitting at the 29th position at Rio Olympics.
