Summer Olympics-2016 kick off today. The Ukrainian national team is one of the biggest. It includes 205 athletes; eight of them are already Olympic champions. Ukrainians will compete in 27 sports.

Sports experts say that the most medal-promising sports for Ukraine this year are shooting, fencing, wrestling, diving, athletics and rhythmic gymnastics.

Here is the schedule for the first Ukrainian Olympics day:


These games will set a record with two more countries taking part – Kosovo and South Sudan. There will be 206 participants and 306 medal events. Two more sports were also included in competitions: golf and rugby.

The next summer Olympics will be even more interesting. The IOC has included in the program five more disciplines: baseball, karate, skateboarding, climbing and surfing.
