Ukrainian biathlete recognized as Europe's best young athlete

Dmytrenko won historical gold medal of Winter Youth Olympics for Ukraine 

Khrystyna Dmytrenko, Winter Youth Olympic Games Champion for the first time in history of Independent Ukraine, has become the winner of the European Olympic Committee Award (EOC) named after Peter Nurovsky.

The award is granted to European athletes under the age of 19 years, who achieved outstanding results in sport.

The decision was made by a vote of 50 Olympic Committees of Europe during the 37th EOC Seminar in Spanish Taragone, according to the official website of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

Nurovsky Award was established by the European Olympic Committee in 2011 to pay tribute a famous Polish leader of the Olympic Movement, who tragically died in crash. Dmytrenko won a historical gold medal for Ukraine in biathlon pursuit at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer. Watch the video here
